Komodo Island


Komodo Island  is an island located in  the westernmost province of  East Nusa Tenggara, bordering the  province of West Nusa Tenggara. Administratively,  the island including the District of Komodo, West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia.


On this island, tourists can see the animals dragons are the largest lizards in the world with an average body length reaches up to 3.13 meters and weighing up to 165 kg. Travelers can also witness this rare animal activities, such as dragons marriage that took place between May and August; dragons amid eating deer, goats, pigs and see dragons bask in the streets and in the branches of trees in the morning.

To protect the dragons from extinction, then in 1980 as the government makes Komodo Island Komodo National Park. Six years later, in 1986, the park was accepted as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This national park consists of two large islands, namely Pulau Rinca and Padar, surrounded by several small islands. Total land area of this national park reaches 1817 km ².
