Karo plateau is a vast plateau in North Sumatra, almost all upland areas are included in Karo regency administration. Karo highland plateau is also the largest in Indonesia. It is located near the east coast of North Sumatra highland air is cool cause it to be a tourist destination in addition to Lake Toba is relatively far from Medan.
Tourist towns in the highlands is such Brastagi and Kabanjahe.
In the highlands, there are two active volcanoes, Mount Sinabung and Sibayak.
