Bantimurung waterfall


Bantimurung  waterfall is a natural tourist attraction in  South Sulawesi were very well known and many tourist  visit. Bantimurung Waterfall is located about 20 kilometers from the airport Hasanuddin, 15  kilo meters from the Maros,  and 50 kilometers from  the city of Makassar.
The waterfall has a width of  20 meters and a height of 15 meters.  The water is clear and  cool down from the top of the rock with heavy throughout the year. Under the waterfall flow there is also a  bathing place made ??of  ground limestone is hard and covered in a layer of minerals due to the flow of water for hundreds of years. In the bath reaches the ankles up to the waist.

To the left of the waterfall there is a 10 meter high concrete staircase. The ladder serves as a path to two caves located around the falls, Cave Mimpi and Cave Baru.

Waterfalls Bantimurung are also habitat butterfly species are rare, so the Dutch have termed this place as the "Kingdom of Butterfly".
Until, a British naturalist, Alfred Rassel Wallase, had lived in this area for ± one year (1856 - 1857) to examine the nearly 150 species of butterflies that are rare. Until now, visitors can still see the brilliant colors of butterflies with different species fly between the flowers.

But, now the population of butterflies in Bantimurung reduced due to uncontrolled fishing by locals. However, existing captive by the Center for Butterfly Breeding contained in Bantimurung.
