Balla Lompoa Museum

Balla Lompoa Museum is a reconstruction of the palace of Gowa was founded in the reign of Gowa-31, I-mangngi Mangngi Daeng Matutu in 1936. Which in Makassar, Balla Lompoa means a big house or a house greatness. Balla Lompoa Museum is located on the Sultan Hasanuddin No.. 48 Sungguminasa, Somba Opu, Gowa regency, South Sulawesi.

The architecture of the museum is typical of the Bugis-shaped house is a house on stilts with a ladder more than two meters tall to fit into the living room. The entire building is made of ironwood or ironwood. The building is located in a complex that is almost an acre of land bounded by a high wall.

The building is divided into two parts, the main room measuring 60 x 40 meters and the living room (the room to receive guests) measuring 40 x 4.5 meters. In the main room there are three chambers, namely the king's private chambers, walk-in store where historical objects, and royal chambers.

This museum serves as a proper store a collection of objects Gowa kingdom. These objects are placed based on common functionality in any room of the museum. On the main room, a map of Indonesia is located on the right side wall.
